How To Heal Your Inner Child

I met my Inner Child

The most exciting thing happened to me, I met and healed my inner child. Most of you already know that I am a certified Consulting Hypnotist. When I started working towards my certification my goal was to help people quit smoking, lose weight and increase their self-confidence. Never in a million years did I imagine everything that can be done through hypnosis. In life, I can be a somewhat cynical person. While I am quite spiritual, I am, also quite practical. Keeping this in mind, let me tell you I found it hard to believe when my Instructor told me that she was going to take me into hypnosis to meet my inner child. Not only was I going to meet “Little Elaine”, I was also, going to be able to help heal her.

How to Meet Your Inner Child

The first thing you need to do to heal your inner child is to be able to connect with them. Believe it or not, they are still in you, a little person you carry everywhere you go. In order to meet your inner child there are numerous things that the Clinical Hypnotist will do with the first one being an induction. Upon completing an induction, I was then taken to my safe place (a place that lives in your mind where you feel safe, secure and happy) and from there I went deep inside myself and there I was. A four-year-old little me. It was an extraordinary feeling because it was me but it wasn’t. The little me was a separate entity from the adult me. I could pick her up, hold her, and place her against my heart. We cuddled together and I could even stroke her hair and cheek. While holding the little me the healing work began.

Healing Your Inner Child

Like all children, your inner child needs unconditional love and reassurance. While holding the young version of myself I told her how much I love her and that I will always be here for her. We talked about all the great things that have happened in our lives and things that were not so great. It was also important that I tell her that no one and nothing would ever hurt her again. We finished our conversation by asking her if she would like to do this regularly, to which she replied, “Yes”. The decision was that we would meet every Sunday evening, for a quick cuddle. It was soon time to end our visit and I wrapped her in a warm fuzzy blanket and tucked her into a corner of my safe place.

Does this all sound very hard to believe? Yes. Is it all true? Yes. It happened and is one of the most profound experiences I have ever had. I completed this experience feeling at peace, content and whole.

If you are ever wondering if you should meet your inner child the answer is an empathic yes. You will be amazed at how many things you have to talk about.
