Why I Became a Life Coach and Clinical Hypnotist

I started a career in Sales right out of University and found that I was good at it. It wasn’t what I had gone to school for and certainly was not the job of my dreams, but, it paid for my student loans, bills and a roof over my head. For over two decades I continued to work in Sales and was very successful which should have made me incredibly happy, but, it didn’t. What started as a job I loved turned into one where the thought of going to work made me physically ill. Yes, I was making great money, but, I was miserable and I brought that misery into our home.
While I was experiencing stress and anxiety from my job my daughter was dealing with stress and anxiety as well. Like all 16-year-olds she was trying to figure out what she wanted to be when she “grew up.” How a teenager is supposed to know this at 16 is beyond me. Take that pressure and add in the competition to get into a good University along with the grades required and the amount of stress is unbelievable. Not only do our children need good grades, but they also need to volunteer and have a host of extra-curriculars to add to their resume. They are figuring out all of this while also dealing with bullying, peer pressure social media, hormones, sexuality and for some substance abuse. It truly is more than any one person should have to deal with and the fact that they are still children makes it even worse.
Taking all these things into account I began my journey to understand as much as I could about stress, anxiety and happiness. I talked about becoming a Life Coach for years and the time had come to pursue what I wanted. I quit my job and began taking the courses required to become one.
While not all Life Coaches have a specialization I realized I wanted to focus on families. I knew that our family could not be the only one dealing with the many issues in family life. I wanted to help families communicate better, support each other better and support each family member in pursuit of their dreams.
While earning my Life Coach credentials I realized a piece of the puzzle missing- limiting beliefs. To achieve our dreams we need to believe that they are possible. We need to quiet that little voice in our head that says, “It can’t be done, you can’t do it.” This is where my journey to become a Clinical Hypnotist began. I knew that through hypnosis I could help individuals harness the power of their subconscious mind and quiet the little voice saying, “You cannot do it.”
